November 28 was supposed to be Team Julian’s big Brave Knight Finale sponsored by Matick Automotive. The evening would have marked 10 years since little Julian’s diagnosis on Nov. 29, 2010, when he was just 4 years old. The event also would have celebrated 10 years of tireless efforts, honored DIPG families still fighting, and paid tribute to Brad Boivin, Team Julian’s beloved co-founder and dashing emcee, who was wholeheartedly devoted to his son, his family, and this cause.

While the pandemic forced us to cancel the gala, together we can still level a blow to this heartbreaking disease that steals too many children. Now through the end of the year, please consider donating to Team Julian’s Brave Knight Finale as we continue our partnership with ChadTough to fund pediatric brain tumor research!

BACKGROUND

In September 2011, just 2 months after losing their 5-year-old son Julian, Nettie and Brad Boivin decided to turn their grief into action by creating the Julian Boivin Courage for Cures Foundation to fight DIPG, and launched a gala event in his honor called Brave Knight.

Friends worked furiously for 8 weeks to pull together the first Brave Knight gala and auction. And on November 29, 2011, one year to the day after Julian’s diagnosis, 300 of the Boivins’ friends, family, and community gathered at The Townsend Hotel to rally funding for pediatric brain tumor research.

The effort grew each November thereafter to become the organization’s signature event. The only year they hit pause was in 2019 when Julian’s father, Brad, fought his own battle with cancer and sadly passed away that October.

Despite a second unthinkable heartbreak, Nettie, with the support of her amazing friends and Brave Knight committee, decided 2020 would be the Brave Knight Finale — one final event to honor Julian, DIPG families, and Brad’s dedication to the cause.

The pandemic sidelined the gala, but you can still help the Boivin family mark this bittersweet 10-year milestone by donating to Team Julian’s effort to fund critical research and hopefully find a cure within the next 10 years.
