DIPG/DMG is one of the most aggressive brain cancers, most often diagnosed in young children, but can also be found in adults. Its rapid progression and lack of treatment options make it one of the most devastating diagnoses a family can face. Families are left searching for hope in a landscape where options are heartbreakingly limited.

Despite the odds, we’ve made incredible progress in the last decade. Researchers have identified some of the genetic mutations that cause DIPG, developed groundbreaking therapies like CAR-T, and ONC201 has now become the first-ever FDA-approved treatment for DIPG. This progress has given hope to so many, and we can’t stop when momentum is on our side.

Securing federal research funding has become more difficult than ever, and the field relies on private foundations like ChadTough Defeat DIPG to keep vital research moving forward. Your support ensures that we remain the most reliable source of funding for DIPG and DMG research. It also allows us to continue helping families through our My DIPG Navigator program, which connects them with experts and information when they need it most.

This month, we’re doing our part to give back by donating a portion of the proceeds from every patient who starts treatment in September to the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation 🧡💙. The ChadTough Foundation is driven by families determined to change the outcome for children facing pediatric brain cancer, especially DIPG. The foundation was started in honor of Chad Carr (age 5) and Michael Mosier (age 6), who both tragically lost their lives to this disease in 2015. Today, their families, along with a growing nationwide network of partners, carry forward the fight to find a cure so that future families can experience a more hopeful journey.

In 2020, six-year-old Owen fought bravely against DIPG, an aggressive and incurable brain tumor after a nearly six-month battle. Join us in honoring his strength and infectious giggle in hopes of creating a brighter outcome for other kiddos who face this terrible disease.

Run with us on September 20th, 2025. This run is virtual, you can run wherever you like! More info will be sent about the logistics of the virtual run after registration. We’re also aiming for some fun surprises for those who run locally, so stay tuned for more details!

Marcotte Open Tournaments is a husband and wife run group helping raise money for different causes around the Bay Area and beyond. We started this mission to help people in need in 2020 after seeing how these trying times have impacted so many. Our goal is to bring people together to raise money for various charities while sharing good times and making great memories. Join us on this amazing journey! The purpose of the 8th Annual Emerson the Brave Stampede 5K Fun Run & Color Run is to raise vital funds and awareness for DIPG (diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma), DMG (diffuse midline glioma) and other pediatric brain cancers in honor of our forever 12-year old daughter, Emerson. Emerson battled DMG and radiation induced high grade glioma brain cancers for over 6 years before losing her battle in July 2024. Less than 2% of children diagnosed with DIPG/DMG survive 5 years post diagnosis. Emerson’s miracle survival was due to research and clinical trials supported by The ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation. Every year since Emerson’s diagnosis, our community has come together to raise money to help fund the amazing strides the doctors and researchers have made against this terrible disease.

We have partnered with the Carr and Mosier Families to become an official Partner Family of the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation, to continue to support the handful of doctors and researchers throughout the United States who have dedicated their lives to developing an effective treatment plan for DIPG. The good news is that these individuals are making real progress! The challenge is that they are almost entirely funded through private donations.

For non-runners who want to join us please come and celebrate to cheer on the runners, and have fun in our Family Fun Zone with a DJ, local food trucks, games and face paint!

A few notes about the evening:

1. Please shoot us an email of your song as we plan to communicate with our DJ. Email us at lipsyncbattlefordipg@gmail.com. If you aren’t a planner, you are welcome to pick a song that evening; just make sure you let us know!
2. We will run performances every 10 minutes so please have your costumes on by 8:00pm sharp!
3. There will be ample opportunities to donate to ChadTough that night… but plan to bring cash if you’d like to challenge a friend to a battle, pay for your friend (or enemy) to perform on stage, and to cancel out those performance requests. ALL proceeds from challenges go directly to ChadTough in honor of Hudson.
4. Last, but not least, let’s all be ready to dance, laugh, and have a great time!

Harbor City Church in Aberdeen, WA, raised money for the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation during its annual kids summer camp from Jul 16-18, 2025.

Students from the 7th Grade Entrepreneur Class at East Northport Middle School organized a Bake Sale and the proceeds went to the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation.

Joanna Cowells was honored to be crowned the 2024 Romeo Peach Queen this past year. As part of her platform for the year, she dedicated herself to supporting the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation and raised awareness of what DIPG is and the work that our organization does. Thanks to the generosity of local businesses along with other fundraising event she raised $1000. She had the privilege of speaking about our organization at a Romeo Lions Club meeting. Raising awareness for the cause has been one of the most rewarding part of her year as the Romeo Peach Queen.

Chosen Sons Motorcycle Club organized a “Ride for her” event with proceeds benefiting the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation.

Each year, BTIG pools their global resources to host the annual BTIG Commissions for Charity Day (BTIG Charity Day), where the day’s net commissions are donated to nonprofit organizations, many of which support children in need worldwide. This year’s date was May 20th.

Annual Dance for Maggie day event at Maggie DeVries’ previous dance studio, Stage Door Dance Academy. This year’s event will be held at Glenbard South High School in Glen Ellyn, IL, and includes a dance show along with raffle and auction items. This dance event started in 2022 with Maggie being a part of the event and now continues annually in her memory.

The I Ran the D 5k is an annual 5K celebrating Detroit sports while promoting health and wellness within our community. The event also benefits ChadTough! Over the past 6 years the I Ran the D 5K has raised over $200,000 for our foundation. The course starts at Comerica Park at the Big Tiger and runs through the streets of the Brush Park neighborhood before circumnavigating Ford Field and finishing back at Comerica Park. All participants are then invited to take a victory lap around the Comerica Park field! Registration includes a safe, well-organized race, hooded custom long-sleeve running shirt with all four Detroit pro sports teams, custom bib, and finishers medal with bottle opener.

Nicollette makes and sells candles, and all proceeds from her sales on April 26 have benefited the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation!

A member of Portage Central’s class of 2022, Sophie Varney’s memory lives on and culminated to touching the greater Kalamazoo-area softball community in the fifth annual ‘Sophie Strong’ Classic. Only this time, it wasn’t just a game, it was an six-team tournament with all proceeds benefiting the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation.

Project Fire Buddies is honoring the memory of Maggie DeVries by selling “GO GRAY IN MAY” shirts, with proceeds benefiting ChadTough. This dedicated group of firefighters supports children battling critical illnesses, bringing them joy and comfort. The pre-sale runs through April 4, with shirts shipping approximately two weeks later.

50% of the profit from this collection will be donated to the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation in collaboration with the University of Michigan Men’s Basketball Team. Clarkston Community Schools (CCS) holds an annual “Month of Giving” event, with the most recent iteration taking place in February 2025. This event includes various fundraising activities to support local charities and connect with the community, such as a pie-in-the-face for charity event where students purchase tickets to have their classmates pied.

This Golf outing is organized in memory of Eugenio Santin by Eugenio’s family. All proceeds go towards the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation.

Please join the University of Michigan’s Polish Student Association in our annual Wolverine Charity Ball! The event includes dinner, a dance floor + DJ (with Polish music of course), silent auction and a performance by Polanie Song & Dance Ensemble of Detroit. This is the first ever Love Like Kenzie event! Kenzie Wrenn Scoggins was an amazing little girl, who bravely fought DIPG, the most deadly childhood cancer for 9 months. She was know for her laugh, her sass, and her amazing heart. Kenzie’s brain was donated to Stanford University and is continuing to further research to help fight for a cure.

Join us for our Karaoke event in memory of Kenzie Scoggins, on February 8th 2025 from 6:00-10:00pm at Thirsty Skull Brewing in Siler City, NC. All funds go to the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation through LoveLikeKenzie in Kenzie’s honor. The ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation is a leader in funding research for DIPG, even supporting Kenzie’s brain donation at Stanford University. Please come out and have a good time while raising funds in Kenzie’s honor. One day we could have a cure!

Gretchen Weng passed away from Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) in October of 2023. As her very close friends, we hoped to raise awareness and donate money to fund DIPG research and support patients. Every donation counts!
