Foundation Advances DIPG/DMG Research with 10 New Fellowships and Record-Breaking Funding Year

The ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation, together with its Family and Research Partners, is proud to announce the award of 10 new Fellowships through its grant program, representing a remarkable new commitment of $2.6 million over three years. These prestigious fellowships are designed to support outstanding predoctoral and postdoctoral researchers as they work under the guidance of expert mentors, fostering the next generation of leaders in DIPG research. This milestone brings our total investment for 2024 to an extraordinary $6.6 million—our largest year of funding to date.

“Before receiving support from the ChadTough/Defeat DIPG Fellowship program and similar nonprofits, I had no funding or experience in brain tumor research,” said Dr. Jamie Anastas of Baylor College of Medicine. “Support from the foundation enabled me to launch high-risk projects targeting DIPG and prepared me for a career dedicated to fighting this disease. Without this funding, these studies wouldn’t have been possible.”

Awards are based on a rigorous review by the foundation’s Scientific Advisory Council, which is composed of leading experts on DIPG, to ensure funds are used for the most incremental and promising research studies. This latest round of funding brings the foundation’s total investment for DIPG/DMG research to $36 million across 44 institutions across the world.
