What started as a creative after-school hobby for Holly has blossomed into a heartfelt mission to make a difference. Inspired by her soccer teammate Lila Mosier, whose brother Michael tragically passed away from DIPG, Holly has turned her love for crafting bracelets into a powerful act of kindness.

“I’ve known Lila and her family for over five years,” Holly shared. “Her dad is our soccer coach, and when Lila told me about her brother Michael, I thought about how hard it must have been for them to go through that. I wanted to do something to help.”

It began simply. Holly discovered a joy for making bracelets and decided to sell them, donating the proceeds to the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation in Michael’s honor. “I would collect the money I raised and give it to Lila’s family at soccer practice or games. It felt good knowing it would go toward helping kids with cancer.”

Creativity with a Cause

Holly’s bracelets reflect her creativity and heart. “I make friendship bracelets, festive ones for holidays like Christmas and Valentine’s Day, and some with repeating patterns, like red and yellow. I use clear elastic string because it’s stretchy and easier to put on,” she explained.

She sells the bracelets by setting up a table in her front yard, often with a sign explaining that all proceeds go toward fighting cancer, especially childhood cancer. “Because Taylor Swift had just been on tour, I made some Taylor Swift-themed bracelets, too,” she added with a smile. When she’s not selling from her yard, Holly sets up shop at the entrance to her neighborhood park, where kids coming from soccer games or playtime stop to support the cause.

Inspired to Help

Michael’s story has deeply impacted Holly’s perspective on helping others. “It was so hard for Lila and her family to lose him, and it was hard for him to go through what he did. I want to raise money for research to help kids who are going through what Michael went through. The more money we raise, the more likely we are to find a cure and save lives.”

Holly’s efforts have sparked a ripple effect in her community. “Neighbors have been so kind and generous. My sister has helped by doing her own sales to raise money, and a friend in Pittsburgh liked the idea so much that she started her own fundraiser for a cause she cares about. Even my cousins held a sale to support the homeless. It’s amazing to see how this little idea has inspired others.”

Making a Difference

Through the support of her family, friends, and neighbors, Holly’s fundraiser continues to grow. “I’m so thankful for everyone who has supported me. My hope is that this will make a difference and help find a cure for kids and families facing cancer.”

Holly’s initiative is a beautiful reminder of the power of small acts of kindness to create big change. Her bracelets are more than just accessories—they’re symbols of hope, resilience, and the belief that, together, we can make a difference.
