Pray for Eliana

November 30, 2014 – April 15, 2020

Eliana Rose Lara was a sweet, loving, funny, beautiful and oh so smart 5 year old from Simi Valley, California. She loved to sing, dance, and play with her three brothers and puppy Olaf.  In May of 2019, Eliana began showing signs that something wasn’t right. The normally happy-go-lucky little girl started struggling with sleep, became fussy and was afraid to go to bed at night.

Soon after, Eliana started getting frequent headaches, and her parents, Endy and Yvette, noticed that she was tripping often and had become more withdrawn.  A trip to the pediatrician led them to believe that their daughter was simply experiencing night terrors and may just possibly need glasses.

But at a Father’s Day gathering on June 16, 2019, family members urged Eliana’s parents to demand a CT scan. That night, they took her to the ER and what followed was nothing short of a nightmare. There they heard the acronym DIPG for the very first time and learned that their daughter had a type of brain cancer for which there was no cure. Eliana was projected to live just 6-9 months.

Eliana journeyed her 10 month battle with DIPG with a resilience and fortitude that inspired everyone who heard her story.  She passed away on April 15, 2020. During the precious 5 years of her life, Eliana touched many lives and she is deeply missed by her family and friends.
