March 16, 1996 – July 24, 2002
Born on March 16, 1996, Liam lived his life surrounded by love, and his bright spirit soared on July 24, 2002. He fought bravely until the end and left this world in peace. An exceptionally gifted athlete, Liam was destined for greatness, with dreams of becoming a major leaguer. Loving, tenacious, and full of humor, he had a passion for school, rocks, sticks, swords, climbing, jumping, and especially baseball. His infectious smile and joyful laugh brought light to everyone around him. Liam deeply cherished his Mommy, Dad, brother, sister, and beloved velvet bunny, Baby, along with many others who were close to him.
Survived by his parents, Jan and Dave Tamayo, brother Coby, and sister Emma, Liam passed away from a brain tumor just nine months after diagnosis. Despite facing a relentless decline, he never lost his sense of humor, love for gummy worms, or joy in playfully scaring his Mommy. Liam touched and inspired thousands across the globe during his battle with the disease that ultimately claimed his life.
Liam died because the cause of his tumor remains unknown, and there is no cure. However, his legacy lives on. His tumor tissue was donated to critical research, and The Liam Foundation now works to advance the fight against childhood cancer. The Tamayo family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the hundreds who supported them throughout Liam’s illness.
