Joanna Cowells was honored to be crowned the 2024 Romeo Peach Queen this past year. As part of her platform for the year, she dedicated herself to supporting the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation and raised awareness of what DIPG is and the work that our organization does. Thanks to the generosity of local businesses along with other fundraising event she raised $1000. She had the privilege of speaking about our organization at a Romeo Lions Club meeting. Raising awareness for the cause has been one of the most rewarding part of her year as the Romeo Peach Queen.

Annual Dance for Maggie day event at Maggie DeVries’ previous dance studio, Stage Door Dance Academy. This year’s event will be held at Glenbard South High School in Glen Ellyn, IL, and includes a dance show along with raffle and auction items. This dance event started in 2022 with Maggie being a part of the event and now continues annually in her memory.

17Superhero Sprint & 6KRaised $180,611

The Superhero Sprint & 6K race was created in honor of Michael Mosier, who battled DIPG for 8.5 months before passing away in May 2015.

2025 will be the 10th Annual event to honor Michael and all the superheroes that we have lost to DIPG, are currently fighting, or will be diagnosed in the future. This race is hosted virtually every year in May, during Brain Tumor Awareness Month. You can walk, run, bike, dance, or participate in any activity you like, anytime in May! You’re welcome to get together with a group or participate individually.

Registration ends on May 17th, DIPG Awareness Day.

17I Ran the DRaised $6,712

The I Ran the D 5k is an annual 5K celebrating Detroit sports while promoting health and wellness within our community. The event also benefits ChadTough! Over the past 6 years the I Ran the D 5K has raised over $200,000 for our foundation. The course starts at Comerica Park at the Big Tiger and runs through the streets of the Brush Park neighborhood before circumnavigating Ford Field and finishing back at Comerica Park. All participants are then invited to take a victory lap around the Comerica Park field! Registration includes a safe, well-organized race, hooded custom long-sleeve running shirt with all four Detroit pro sports teams, custom bib, and finishers medal with bottle opener.

17Owners Box Give Back eventRaised $1,437

On Saturday we give back in Brody’s honor. Join us at Owners Box for Team Brody Giveback Day, a full day dedicated to raising awareness for DIPG and supporting the fight against pediatric brain cancer.
From 11 a.m. to midnight, 10% of all food sales will go toward funding research and honoring the memory of Brody Townsend, a brave young boy from Lakeland whose strength and spirit continue to inspire our community.

10ChadTough Defeat DIPG Gala

Looking forward to recreating the magic of our 2024 Gala in May 2025! The 7th annual ChadTough Defeat DIPG Gala will raise funds for game-changing research in the DIPG/DMG community. Michigan football’s Kelli and Sherrone Moore will join former Michigan football player and current Cleveland Browns lineman, Zak Zinter, to co-host the 2025 ChadTough Defeat DIPG Gala.

10Research Workshop

This event is a forum for DIPG/DMG researchers to collaborate, especially on unpublished work, to accelerate our path to a cure. It is also an opportunity for DIPG/DMG families that partner with our foundation to get updates on recent advancements and network with researchers.

4Nicole Haley Photography Give Back Event

On May 4th, 2025 Nicole Haley is hosting 20 minute sessions at her local studio. A minimum of 25 images will be delivered via online gallery and available for download. The remaining images are available for $2 per image. Prints are available for purchase via the online gallery. Session fee must be paid in full within 24 hours of this scheduling request or the time will be released.

10% of all session fees will be donated to the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation.

2Brave Like Brody Golf OutingRaised $16,000

We would like to formally announce our fourth annual Brave Like Brody golf tournament! It is hard to believe this will be our fourth year for this event and will be the 3rd tournament since we lost our Brave Brody. This event will be on Friday, May 2nd and will once again be held at Colonial Country Club, 2736 Countrywood Pkwy, Cordova, TN 38016. Proceeds will once again benefit the Brave Like Brody Memorial Scholarship fund and the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation.
The scholarship will benefit students from Lakeland and is scheduled to begin with our first graduating class from Lakeland Prep in 2026.
We are in search of hole sponsors ($100 donation) and business sponsors (range from $250-$2,000+) We are happy to have many golf teams returning from last year but still have room left for more teams. More details can be found on the flyer!! Please share with your friends!

8Kenzie’s Karaoke BashRaised $2,515

In memory of Kenzie Scoggins

This is the first ever Love Like Kenzie event! Kenzie Wrenn Scoggins was an amazing little girl, who bravely fought DIPG, the most deadly childhood cancer for 9 months. She was know for her laugh, her sass, and her amazing heart. Kenzie’s brain was donated to Stanford University and is continuing to further research to help fight for a cure.

Join us for our Karaoke event in memory of Kenzie Scoggins, on February 8th 2025 from 6:00-10:00pm at Thirsty Skull Brewing in Siler City, NC. All funds go to the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation through LoveLikeKenzie in Kenzie’s honor. The ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation is a leader in funding research for DIPG, even supporting Kenzie’s brain donation at Stanford University. Please come out and have a good time while raising funds in Kenzie’s honor. One day we could have a cure!

Ben Schafer was diagnosed with a pediatric brain tumor in 2024. Whatever it sold for, Ben’s family matched it and send a donation to the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation . The Schafer family is honored to give this from their family to ours, because our Foundation has touched their hearts.
