The Jones family immediately stepped in to help.

Tammi Carr met Wayne and Shelly Jones while raising money for Michigan Medicine. They developed a wonderful working relationship and in 2013 Tammi left her position with the university to become the Executive Director of the Jones Family Foundation. A year later, on September 23, 2014, the unimaginable occurred when Tammi’s youngest son Chad was diagnosed with DIPG.

Wayne and Shelly were incredibly supportive of the Carr family from the very beginning, insisting that Tammi focus on Chad’s well-being. Chad passed away just 14 months later, but Tammi was determined to make a difference for future families in the fight and founded The ChadTough Foundation. The Jones family supported the Carr family’s efforts immediately and aligned their mission with ChadTough, contributing significantly to the initiative at Michigan Medicine that resulted in the naming of the Chad Carr Pediatric Brain Tumor Center.
