The Jones family has been here from the very beginning.

Tammi Carr met Wayne and Shelly Jones while raising money for Michigan Medicine. They developed a wonderful working relationship and in 2013 Tammi left her position with the university to become the Executive Director of the Jones Family Foundation. A year later, on September 23, 2014, the unimaginable occurred when Tammi’s youngest son Chad was diagnosed with DIPG.

Wayne and Shelly were incredibly supportive of the Carr family from the very beginning, insisting that Tammi focus on Chad’s well being. Chad passed away just 14 months later, but Tammi was determined to make a difference for future families in the fight and founded The ChadTough Foundation. The Jones family supported the Carr family’s efforts immediately and aligned their mission with ChadTough, contributing significantly to the initiative at Michigan Medicine that resulted in the naming of the Chad Carr Pediatric Brain Tumor Center.

About The Jones Family Foundation

Founded in 2009 and primarily serving Southeast Michigan and Southeast Florida, the Jones Family Foundation is dedicated to improving communities by providing financial support to qualified nonprofit organizations including, but not limited to, those that address the needs of children’s health, education, and our nation’s veterans.

“From day one of the foundation they asked how they could help.” said Tammi Carr. “They were one of our biggest donors up front to both the foundation as well as to the initiative at Michigan.”

“Tammi and her family are very near and dear to us,” said Shelly Jones. “We want to be a part of the progress and be there as they work to find a cure for DIPG. It’s amazing what they have already accomplished, and it is important to us that we be there to support them.”
