15Wolverine Charity BallRaised $1,000

Hosted by the University of Michigan's Polish Student Association

Please join the University of Michigan’s Polish Student Association in our annual Wolverine Charity Ball! The event includes dinner, a dance floor + DJ (with Polish music of course), silent auction and a performance by Polanie Song & Dance Ensemble of Detroit. This year, proceeds from this event are going to ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation!

Wolvball will be taking place Saturday, February 15th, from 7-11pm at Weber’s Restaurant and Hotel Grand Ballroom.

This is the first ever Love Like Kenzie event! Kenzie Wrenn Scoggins was an amazing little girl, who bravely fought DIPG, the most deadly childhood cancer for 9 months. She was know for her laugh, her sass, and her amazing heart. Kenzie’s brain was donated to Stanford University and is continuing to further research to help fight for a cure.

Join us for our Karaoke event in memory of Kenzie Scoggins, on February 8th 2025 from 6:00-10:00pm at Thirsty Skull Brewing in Siler City, NC. All funds go to the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation through LoveLikeKenzie in Kenzie’s honor. The ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation is a leader in funding research for DIPG, even supporting Kenzie’s brain donation at Stanford University. Please come out and have a good time while raising funds in Kenzie’s honor. One day we could have a cure!

Ben Schafer was diagnosed with a pediatric brain tumor in 2024. Within their business, his family decided to raise money by creating a Brain Tumor Awareness Christmas Tree for a program called Festival of Trees. Whatever it sold for, Ben’s family matched it and send a donation to the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation . The Schafer family is honored to give this from their family to ours, because our Foundation has touched their hearts.

Calling all my One Club Crazies!!! Another year is upon us and it’s time to play our favorite tournament of the season. Over the last 3 years we’ve donated to the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation and our 3 year donation number has reached $6800. I’m thinking we can hit $10,000 this year! A whopping 107 golfers came out for a fun day last year and helped raise $5000!!! Part of the proceeds go to ChadTough in the memory of Mackenzie Bennett and the rest of the money raised we use for the “Friends of Friends” and help families at Christmas time that are in need. Just like last year I’ll need some extra elves this year to help shop for families and wrap all of the gifts! Here’s a rundown for those that may be new:
  • $50 per golfer
  • 9 holes of golf (only allowed to use “1” club)
  • We go out in large groups so don’t plan on setting up a foursome.
  • After party gathering at Fosters Restaurant in Hilton. Garbage plate buffet, 3 drinks included with your entry fee and Chinese Auction.
  • 50/50 tickets
  • Buttonwood Golf Course

Special guest is Gail Disner is The Southern Gail, an NFL wife and lover of all things home design, who uses her website (thesoutherngail.com) and social media presence to inspire others, teach DIY skills, and provide a resource for all things home design and décor.

The GFWC Miami Springs Woman’s Club presented a $6,000 donation to two organizations dedicated to fighting childhood cancer, ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation, and SebastianStrong Foundation.

These funds were generated during the Club’s 2024 Jail & Bail for Charity, an annual event that cleverly “arrests” community members for doing good and challenges them to raise “bail” money to secure their release. The proceeds not only support the Club’s many initiatives but also specifically channel hope and resources into the battle against pediatric cancer.

The Hauppauge Girls’ Varsity soccer team organized a fundraiser that involved all teams in their school soccer program and several other schools in Suffolk County. The soccer team donated part of the money raised to the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation in memory of Callie Montera (daughter of HS guidance counselor Danielle Montera) and Andy Hazin, an elementary student in our district who recently lost his battle.

12Par 3 for DIPG – Malin’s DaysRaised $15,000

Join us for a kid-friendly Golf Challenge playing nine holes on a par three course. No previous golfing experience is necessary! Teams will compete in unique challenges, puzzles, and games at each hole. Teams will consist of two players (one adult and one child), with two teams per hole. All green fees, cart rentals and clubs (if needed) are included in the registration fees. You only need to bring a big smile, and a desire to affect others positively.

All proceeds benefit The Malin Reed Opitz Memorial Fund to support various non-profits that were near and dear to Malin’s heart. The largest allocation will be to the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation to fund research to find a cure for this devastating disease that Malin bravely battled for 8 months.

Ryan McGuire’s 2024 GFC Golf Marathon proceeds in memory of his friend, Danny Nickerson, who died of DIPG when the boys were in kindergarten. In 2015, at age 6, Ryan fist played 100 holes of golf in one day in honor of his friend Danny and has done so every year since. The ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation is this year’s beneficiary.

The 11th Annual RunTough for ChadTough Defeat DIPG is a family-friendly 5K and 1M Fun Run and the foundation’s longest running event, bringing together families, both locally and across the world, to raise money for childhood brain cancer research. In celebration of Chad Carr’s September 26th birthday, who passed away at the age of 5, participants can enjoy a fun-filled morning in Saline, MI, including a Family Fun Zone and Tot Race, free for kids 5 and under on Sunday, September 29th, 2024.

In 2020, six-year-old Owen fought bravely against DIPG, an aggressive and incurable brain tumor after a nearly six-month battle. Join us in honoring his strength and infectious giggle in hopes of creating a brighter outcome for other kiddos who face this terrible disease and participate in the 5th Annual RunTough for Team Owen.
