19Sophie Strong Softball TournamentPortage, MI

In memory of Sophie Varney

Hosted by South Portage Little League Baseball

A member of Portage Central’s class of 2022, Sophie Varney’s memory lives on and culminated to touching the greater Kalamazoo-area softball community in the fifth annual ‘Sophie Strong’ Classic. Only this time, it wasn’t just a game, it was an six-team tournament with all proceeds benefiting the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation.

1Superhero Sprint & 6KVirtual Run

May 1 -17, 2025

The Superhero Sprint & 6K race was created in honor of Michael Mosier, who battled DIPG for 8.5 months before passing away in May 2015.

2025 will be the 10th Annual event to honor Michael and all the superheroes that we have lost to DIPG, are currently fighting, or will be diagnosed in the future. This race is hosted virtually every year in May, during Brain Tumor Awareness Month. You can walk, run, bike, dance, or participate in any activity you like, anytime in May! You’re welcome to get together with a group or participate individually.

Registration ends on May 17th, DIPG Awareness Day.

2Brave Like Brody Golf OutingCordova, TN

We would like to formally announce our fourth annual Brave Like Brody golf tournament! It is hard to believe this will be our fourth year for this event and will be the 3rd tournament since we lost our Brave Brody. This event will be on Friday, May 2nd and will once again be held at Colonial Country Club, 2736 Countrywood Pkwy, Cordova, TN 38016. Proceeds will once again benefit the Brave Like Brody Memorial Scholarship fund and the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation.
The scholarship will benefit students from Lakeland and is scheduled to begin with our first graduating class from Lakeland Prep in 2026.
We are in search of hole sponsors ($100 donation) and business sponsors (range from $250-$2,000+) We are happy to have many golf teams returning from last year but still have room left for more teams. More details can be found on the flyer!! Please share with your friends!

10ChadTough Defeat DIPG GalaAnn Arbor, MI

Looking forward to recreating the magic of our 2024 Gala in May 2025! The 7th annual ChadTough Defeat DIPG Gala will raise funds for game-changing research in the DIPG/DMG community. Michigan football’s Kelli and Sherrone Moore will join former Michigan football player and current Cleveland Browns lineman, Zak Zinter, to co-host the 2025 ChadTough Defeat DIPG Gala.

10Research WorkshopAnn Arbor, MI

May 9-10, 2025

This event is a forum for DIPG/DMG researchers to collaborate, especially on unpublished work, to accelerate our path to a cure. It is also an opportunity for DIPG/DMG families that partner with our foundation to get updates on recent advancements and network with researchers.

 

 

17I Ran the DDetroit, MI

May 17, 2025

The I Ran the D 5k is an annual 5K celebrating Detroit sports while promoting health and wellness within our community. The event also benefits ChadTough! Over the past 6 years the I Ran the D 5K has raised over $200,000 for our foundation. The course starts at Comerica Park at the Big Tiger and runs through the streets of the Brush Park neighborhood before circumnavigating Ford Field and finishing back at Comerica Park. All participants are then invited to take a victory lap around the Comerica Park field! Registration includes a safe, well-organized race, hooded custom long-sleeve running shirt with all four Detroit pro sports teams, custom bib, and finishers medal with bottle opener.

Annual Dance for Maggie day event at Maggie DeVries’ previous dance studio, Stage Door Dance Academy. This year’s event will be held at Glenbard South High School in Glen Ellyn, IL, and includes a dance show along with raffle and auction items. This dance event started in 2022 with Maggie being a part of the event and now continues annually in her memory.

This is the 8th year for the West Michigan Whitecaps’ annual Rivalry Night, supported by ChadTough’s Family Partners Team Tommy. This night is about two schools that have a heated rivalry in baseball coming together to help two outstanding foundations. The Michael Sadler Foundation and Chad Tough Defeat DIPG Foundation with assistance from Team Tommy will be represented all night.
